Sam and another high school girl smoke pot in a bathroom. Sam even says that it calms her and makes it easier to be numb through life and emotions. They drink as if it is normal and acceptable. The teenage girls are exposed to a lot of alcohol and drunk people at parties. There are good lessons about being kind to people no matter what they look like because they may be going through some horrible things or living your life to the fullest. However, at points, she only helps a suicidal girl because she thinks it will earn her her life back. Her character develops as that fatal day repeats, and she ends up saving someone's life.

The main character, Sam, begins the story as an unkind, self-centered teenager who gets in a car accident and dies. This book will work better with tweens or teens who are mature.
